Its pretty much a maths question.
ok:

In 1970, 3900 kilotonnes of sulphur dioxide were prduced from burning coal. What percentage of the total is this?

now i worked out the total of sulphur dioxide produced from the graph to be 6600 kilotonnes

so now i need to work out the answer and i dont know how!
Help :)

Take 6600 / 100 = 66. This gives you how many kilo-tonnes there is in 1 % of the total. You want to find out how many percent 3900 kilo-tonnes is, so you take 3900 / 66, because this gives you how many times you need to add up 66 (1%) to get to 3900.
