to attract insects to land on it then land on other rose plants to pollinate it meaning more rose plants

The rose flower is used as a tracking device to insects such as bees which help to pollinate it. The sweet smelling aroma given off by it also makes unappealing to birds and other animals so they won't attack it and eat it.
