Assume sexual reproduction within a
tetraploid system (4n=20) where each of the
4 parents contributes a haploid gamete with
5 chromosomes to the zygote. Let’s look at a
single gene with 2 possible alleles. How
many possible unique (adult) genotypes are
possible for this gene in this system?
The answer is 5, but whenever I do it out I get 4 after crossing out the genotypes that are redundant such as ABAA and AABA (same thing when looked at reversed) I get 16 genotypes (including the ones not unique and the ones unique) and I end up crossing out 12 of them because they aren't unique or redundant, someone help me out please.
