Biology Assignment on Fossils.?

One of the questions is.
give evidence of When life originated on earth
but you have to do this with fossils?

Iv tryed looking alot. does anyone have some good links?
or know alot about it? :)
 
Well, there's a problem with that question since we know that the very earliest forms of life didn't fossilize. What you can do is take the oldest known fossils and determine that life originated before then. We think life originated 3.5 billion years ago, we have fossils (called stromalites) dated to at least 2 billion years ago and there are some possible fossils from over 3 billion years ago.
