[What I want t do]
I am looking for a career that involves being apart of the evolution of robots & computers. Not as in a IT or for "modern" commercial uses such as computer programming or working in telecommunications but on a more serious/direct scale. I'm not even sure if what I'm about to describe exists (so bear with me) but is there a field where you can tinker with robotics and human life into one here in the U.S.?

[Example]
This is going to sound silly/stupid but this is just so you can see where I'm coming from. In movies and such like Terminator, the robots are smart/smarter than human. I realize the movie has sci fi elements however the evolution of computers/robotics to that level is not limited (Moore's Law) but rather imminent. I am very interested in the sciences behind stuff like this because there is no limit of possibilities.

I've seen on Discovery Science (yeah i know too much media influence) many documentations on Michio Kaku's futuristic visions. He also always brings robotic evolution. I just can't seem to narrow down a direct path to best be apart of it.

[The Problem]
The only catch is I am not good in math. There is always time to improve, but for now it is pretty slim. Because of that I checked into Biology however it seems this field is highly dedicated towards medicine. I know I would love working in a lab so I checked Nanotechnology and it still seems up in the air from what I've seen. It too seems to be heavily dedicated towards the health field more than anything for now. So what is left? IS the medical field the leader for this kind of computer innovations?

[Suggestions?]
I have taken many assessment tests and job placement test. The result is always science. I know I would love working in a lab doing RESEARCH. I just do not know the quickest most direct means to get to what i have been describing.

It seems the entire field of computers is really broken down into so many categories:

I just do not know which path is mine for this. I just don't want to settle for computer programming or computer engineering at some lame corporate job. I don't want to work at a boring company fitting LCD screens into a tv frame and suggesting the latest mp3 players to parents. I want to be on the very breaking edge of computer research. I know for the best of the best I'd have to go to MIT or something so what should I work now? I am only 20 now so can someone please help me get started.

sorry for the long read & please don't just suggest talking to a councilor, mines actually suggested being a architect based on what I just told you :-|
