Im now 18 years of age.
It started when i was 14, just drinking to get drunk.
(since then i have been drinking to get drunk once a week on average, sometimes twice)
I have finally grown up and realized what i was doing was very bad for me (i always knew, just seemed to hit me lately)

Is it likely to have caused much damage?
What is the damage i have done to myself likely to be?
Do i need to take tests etc. to see the damage or just cut down or lay off the alcohol?
If i cut down/ lay off is it likely my body could recover fully?
What symptoms of damage should i look out for?

Im taking milk thistle now, hoping it will help recover my liver.
Anyone ever use this? Any good?

Thanks everyone:cool:

Regardless of any damage done to your body, you need to stop. IMO, you probably haven't done any permanent damage to your body, but YOU WILL if you keep drinking. Try to get some help, if it's available, (aa) or at least talk to your loved ones about your problems or concerns. You are so young, try to get control of this now, before it really does damage. I'm coming off all motherly, holier than thou, and I don't mean too. Just look up some of these stories, alot of alcoholics start this way. I have a neice your age and this is EXACTLY what I would tell her too. Keep us posted, please. And please know that if your worried, you could talk to your Dr about it too. I don't know what your situation is with mom or dad, but a Dr. won't share information without your consent.Good luck!

sounRAB like your doing the right thing . just stop drinking. at your age there is probley no damage at all .1 or 2 days is not alot . but i wont minumize it if you drank to get drunk thats enough .only time will tell if you crossed the line. this is the smartest choice you have made my opion . there is so much more to life. go into it with a clear head save yourself more trouble in the future i am so glad to have read your thread . you dont have to go where some of us have been . jails insatutions death. its real dont go there. good luck to you scott. be a hard worker. be a good son. be a good friend. you wont be able to be there for people once alcohol takes over . after time it calls the shots an you will have no choice but you can you can say no an you have a choice . good job . get lots of rest drink lots of fluiRAB an exersice. you will be ok . you can have your md check your liver .if you want . got more questions just ask . someone will help:)

no problem Scott:) I hope you continue to stay sober and do well in your life!
i like the way this forum is more than a health forum because people support each other too!
Scott, when you said earlier, only time will tell the damage, did you mean in an addictive way, or a kind of health damage way? just wondering:)
thanks:D

yes. good to hear from i was about 14 15 years old when i crossed the line this is only a guess,an what other alcoholics have shared with me . its sounRAB like your on the right track . an not everyone crosses the line at that age .it seems like say a collage student drinks alot while there gets sick of partying meets someone an they settle down . i was told that anyone has about a 50% chance of becoming an alcolholic under those cercumstances . an alot go on to live normal lives . i would not worry. but i thought i would tell you just be careful. an again good luck . oh an why some people dont cross it i dont think that is known. that statistic is weather your family merabers have it or not. :):wave:good job. again i will add that in my case my father was an alcoholic my brother my uncle my granfather . not my 2 sisters or my mother . go figure .
