Binding rear disc brake on Ford Mondeo?

I have an intermittent problem with the offside rear disc brake of my mondeo diesel periodically there is a noise like a pad rubbing on the brake disc, more noticeable when gently turning left. After a short run the disc is hot but only on the offside. The handbrake seems to hold and release normally. Any ideas as to cause and solution will be appreciated
