Binatone Terrain 750 for skiing?

Hey, Im going skiing this weekend and Im thinking about getting the Binatone Terrain 750 two way radios. Firstly, I wanted to know if they're any good? We're only going to be using them short range so Im not too bothered if they dont work over the mountain. Also, is there a legal limit on the range they can be? It says up to 8km, an i dont want to be causing an avalanche or something! Thanks,
