This is for Australians or people thinking about moving their bikes around Aus. But I'm putting this here for more visibility.
As a few of you know, I recently moved to Cairns from Sydney. Now, disinclined to ride all that way, I had my 848 shipped by Bikes Only. Which as their quote on their website states. "We'll look after your baby"
They didn't. To save myself some hassle, I'll just c&p with a couple of slight changes my complaint e-mail (you know, addresses, real names, etc).
Complaint letter:
Stated on Page 2 of the Booking Form that must be signed in the "What we will do" section it states that they will ring prior to delivery to arrange times for pick up. And that they would carry out a condition report signed by the receiver. I did not sign for receipt as is listed in their Booking Form. That had already been signed for at their depot. I had to sign somewhere upon the sheet at Team Moto (Cairns) before even being allowed to view my bike.
In addition, the only reason why I knew it was there was because at 12:13pm on the 24th of Feb, I had to ring Bikes Only to find out whether my bike had been delivered yet. At pick up they advised me it would be around Monday - Tuesday this week. So I rang, just in case they had been delayed by the rains in FNQ. Only to be informed that the driver had delivered them and that he was already heading back.
Once I finally got my bike, I noticed that there was a distinct amount of mud and rain on the bike. When I rang to enquire as to exactly how this happened (at 2:39pm same day, it's now 4:30pm and they still haven't rang me back after speaking with their driver to inform me of how it happened), I ended up getting an earful of how I was lying, that it was my fault and that it was 'impossible' that such a thing could have occured, that their bikes were totally enclosed and as such the bike was in that condition because it's how I delivered it.
Now I will happily admit that I didn't have dirt insurance. It wasn't covered by DHA. That said, an honest answer as to how the bike could have gotten in such a state would have been nice. I wouldn't have minded if they said that it got rained on while they transfered it between trucks or wheeled it through puddles. But the dirt was distinctly on the top right hand side, which is most exposed when on the side stand, considering the amount of dirt and mud on it, it would have been there for a while. Unlike how their photos show them arrayed in the trucks. My major complaint with this section is being insulted and berated when I asked how such a thing could have happened.
Thank you for your time.
Now, what I didn't mention in the e-mail and probably should have, secondary e-mail coming up. After it had been placed on the truck to be taken to their Sydney depot, I had cleaned it with a microfibre towel in front of their pickup driver.
