Bikers: Which cheap bike(125cc?) would be suitable for a new rider who just wants

cheap travel and insurance? I've also been advised to avoid "sports" bikes where you need to be bent over with your head on the handle bars!

I'll be using it for commuting rather than racing and looking cool!
Hi all

I'm thinking of getting a bike but I know little about them. Can you recommend a model (and age) of bike to go for?

I want it to be fairly economical and cheap to tax and insure. Also, roughly how much would I expect to spend:

To buy it?
Per year in maintenance?

depends on where you live and how how your going to be riding but id say get a bigger one
really id go and sit on a few bikes see what you like the feel of since your butt will be whats going to be feeling the road go have a look at new bikes wil give you ideals of what to look for in a bike and then you can search online for something for sale like you like

that sports bike comment isnt fully true and a sports bike you can more or less sit how you like when i had my kawasaki ninja 250r id sit up or bend over as you say to get less drag from wind so sports bikes are alot better for wind protection. onto bikes though any two stroke bike will need more looking after than a four stroke. bikes id recomend are the honda cbr125 perfect four stroke bike that looks good and has very cheap tax and insurance and will last alot longer than any other two stroke. check auto trader for prices
