BIKE WON'T RUN Any ideas?

I have a 2004 YAMAHA Vstar 1100 Classic with 5,300 miles. It started backfiring badly. Changed gas, plugs, cleaned carbs, changed ignition unit, fuel pump and filter OK.

Bike now only starts with full choke on and continues backfiring. Hit throttle and it dies. Doesn't start with choke off. Any ideas?
