I just bought a '94 750 katana and when sitting at red lights in gear the bike will die but will start right back up, also at around 8-10rpms in loses pretty much all power and starts backfiring. when it starts this if i give it more gas it acts like i wants to die, when i back out of it everything is fine. im sure something needs to be replaced i just dont know what it could be. new parts: oil, plugs, cleaned the gas tank before i started it the first time, and made my own exhaust. ( a restrictive exhaust can be ruled out because i took the exhaust off to see if that was it and drove it around for a day and same problems.)
also, i forgot to mention the bike has very high miles, almost 54k i think.
