Bike incident (who's at fault?)?

I biked to a sidewalk to cross the street to get to school yesterday. As always I hit the button to cross the street and it gave me 15 seconds to cross over. BEFORE I even crossed when it gave me 15 seconds, just to make sure, I looked behind me, above me, to my left and right, THEN I crossed just to be extra safe. I'm in the middle of the sidewalk by then, and then a red truck comes from behind me and hits the back of my bike (not sure what speed but it was going pretty fast) and my leg got caught in my bike chain when I got hit while my bike and I slid about 10 feet from where I was hit. (The driver that hit me NOTICED I was completely fine and my head was fine because I was wearing a helmet) so he came out yelling at me telling me that I should "Watch where I'm going and maybe next time I should try biking in the street and get hit by a change to be more aware of my surroundings and to respect drivers that are driving by" .....

His red chevy truck just had a big dent on his right headlight and my bike didn't damage that much either, but when he came running out my leg was still caught in my bike and I came out with the damages of a fractured knee (my knee was swelling up) and since I slid my my left arm was bleeding like crazy..

Anyways, I ended up being transferred to the hospital, and my parents got called up (etc......) So I'm just curious, was this really my fault because he's sueing me for a big dent on his headlight .... Keep in mind that i'm just a kid and that man that hit me was in his 30's - 40's I believe because he had this really long goatee kind of mustache like those motorcyclists.
I forgot to mention, by kid I mean i'm only 13 1/2 and was on my way to my hs
he is blaming me for reckless biking
Wow. I never knew this was my fault.
