what are the type of disc brake in bikes? how does someone distinguish between them?

what type of disc brake is this in the pic :

btw what is the advantage of having a rear disc?

in comparison which is better? what type of disc is this?
 
Most motorcycle's that use disc brakes use hydraulic but a few smaller bikes use a cable disc brake system. If you have a resivoir (connected to the master cylinder either directly or by a hose) for brake fluid and thick lines with banjo bolts running from the lever (master cylinder) to the caliper its hydraulic, if you have a cable running from the lever and no resivoir then its a cable system.

That's a hydraulic brake system, looks like a 2 piston floating caliper with a rigidly mounted rotor. Very similar to the systems on the newer Ninja 250's.

I don't know that the "normal" disc on that bike looks like so can't tell you how its different.
