bike derailers answer if you're smart?

my bike has two derailers, one in the front and one in the rear. I have this question, since my bike has 5 levels in the back, and 3 levels in the front, and i set the chain on the smallest level on the rear, and biggest chain level on the front, will my bike go faster with ease or harder and going slower? i really don't get this
