Bike and height.........?

I am 5'7" and looking into getting a bike. Just wondering, does it matter what the height of the bike is? Or frame? I am sorry, just not exactly sure. I'm not looking for a mountain bike or anything, just a bike that I could ride around town and save on gas for my car. Thank you.
 
Getting the correct size bike is the most important thing you can do besides getting the bike to suit your needs. You want to go to a bike shop and look at the hybrid bikes. They are great for around town and can also be ridden on bike trails. Stay away from Walmart and other department store bikes. Look for something like this.

Most hybrids will allow you to put on fenders and racks if you like. Comfort bikes will be the same thing but will have the wider 26 inch tires.
