Big Vein for years? Got smaller overnight?

I've always had a big vein in the top of my calf muscle... It's always got much bigger when training them... But it always feels quite tender when i'm training them.. kinda like a bruise with a lot of pressure on it, it feels spongey... but a solid spongey feeling... asif it's a rubber tube of liquid blocked off on each end with little resistence...

Anyways....

This morning i've woke up after been out on a night out... The vein doesn't seem as a big as it usually is... and i've been left with a small lump underneath which moves about a bit... the vein is still biggish, but not as big as it usually is..

Anyways... I'de planned on going to the doctors after the bank holiday to check it out... but i've just felt the back of my leg higher up on my thigh... and it feels tender there, like a bruise... and rubbing it softly, you can feel a slight raised area under the surface of the skin... which feels like a really small ball? I'de suggest it's maybe 2 - 3 mm diameter max....

Was just wondering if anyone could give me insight to this? my initial thought, the vein in my leg has been clotted.. and it's broke up for some reason and working it's way up my thigh.. Was just wanting some re-assurence about this, and how urgent it could be?

Thanks

Hi - That happened to me about 10 years ago. I bought a trampoline and was very diligent about jumping on it. However, after about a week (or less), I noticed that I had a large bruise on the back of my calf. This later turned into a varicose vein.
I, of course, stopped using the trampoline! I looked up my problem on the Internet and learned that a person with varicose veins should not use a trampoline!
I still have the varicose vein there, but it has gotten smaller. Perhaps something you have been doing (an exercise, running, etc.?) could have caused another vein to appear beginning with a bruise. Of course, your situation could definitely be different..... Good luck  Mabent

The vein on the back of my calfs has been there for as long as i can remembered. So was just thinking maybe it's been some kind of clot which had stuck.. and perhaps it's just moved off?

I've been doing nothing diferent to cause something else to trigger, it's just randomly moved off and developed a lump. just got me curious about it now.
