I know the movie doesnt come out here until Friday, but some here seem to watch films much earlier then it is released ((i wonder lol:rolleyes: :D ))).

So for those who watched previews of this film, is it any good because (going to sound corny now) i'm thinking of going to the cinema with me mum (yes i know, "aww"rolleyes: ) so i would like to here the official word on it first before i go and pay lol!

I haven't seen it yet but it's one I've been really looking forward to.

I'll stick my neck out and say it'll be good. It's Tim Burton and by the looks of it he's back to doing the lower key stuff he does best. It looks to me to have a bit of the Princess Bride about it.

Nothing wrong with going to the flicks with your mum. It beats going on your own. ...The trick is, if there's a queue keep looking at your watch as if you're waiting for someone. May you never know that level of lameness. :)

If you like Tim Burton ,if you like the Coen Brothers, if you can tolerate Ewan McGregor and you are a fan of a good old yarn, you'll leave the cinema satisfied.Probably Tim Burtons best film, I can't predict the future, but it'll probably be one of the better films you'll see this year.

As per normal, I've reviewed this on my website having been fortunate enough to see it a few weeks ago (and in a legitimate sense I may add) :D I'll repost my review here just for lala ;)

Big Fish
An estranged son, visits his dying father with the hope of separating the 'man from the myth'; but life never runs smoothly, and soon we are treated to an autobiography filled with an inseparable mix of both fact and fiction.

Tim Burton decides to return to the 'Edward ScissorhanRAB' formula that made him great; take a heart-warming story, add a splash of weirdness and a tear-jerking ending without injecting too much sugar to the proceedings.

However, where 'Edward ScissorhanRAB' succeeded in creating just the right balance between sweet and sour, Big Fish falls into that gag-worthy trap more than once, particularly in the last ten minutes in which the treacle is laid on just a little too thickly to have you leaving the cinema with that warm, honest glow about yourself.

The acting is also somewhat mixed, ranging from the terribly archetypal 'cats in the cradle' turn from Billy Crudup to the Oscar-worthy 'teetering on the edge of reality' acting of Albert Finney that is surely the best performance of his career!

The film manages to tow the line between melodrama and fantasy with pin-point accuracy, proving that the editing is tightly cut even with a two hour runtime. Whilst this film is no 'Batman', it certainly isn't a 'Planet of the Apes' either.

A work colleague who saw it over the weekend has been raving about it saying it is fantastic - he highly recommenRAB it - he is usually fairly good with his reveiws.

I went to see Big Fish some weeks ago (at one of the previews at the end of January before its release proper) and I have to say I thought it was rubbish.

Where on earth is the drama, the magic, and the point in revisiting the ramblings and tall stories of yer soon to be deceased Dad to see if they were true?

Got very bored very quickly.

Have seen 19 films so far this year and intend to see another two over the weekend.

At last - I've found a post on the soundtrack for this film.

I believe the song you are referring to is 'Salisbury Hill' by Peter Gabriel. If not it's something very similar.

I remember loving this song when the cinema trailer was on TV earlier in the year. However when I watched the film last night there was no sign whatsoever of this song. What happened to it ?

I can only assume it had to be removed for some reason ?

Do you agree ?

Fantastic Film by the way - what an imagination Burton has.

9/10

Agree - but can anyone shed any light on this mystery ie Why was it used on the UK trailer soundtrack but not in the film.

It also doesn't feature on the trailers with the DVD ?

The daft thing is it was perfect for the film and really grabbed my attention when I saw the trailor on TV.

Confused !

Mike.

Big Fish is enjoyable. Good, but not great.

Why? I go with my mum all the time.
1. She pays for me
2. She shuts up. I HATE going with frienRAB as they have no appreciation for films and jus talk all the time.

Just saw this last night! very............odd! But good in a way :)

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this as it isnt in the trivia section of IMDB...but in the funeral at the end, the shot you see is the same shot as the town of Spectre with the white house/church at the back, but there are no houses either side. So he has returned to Spectre *fact* as well.
