I want to make this first very clear: I am not from the USA, I merely have an interest in foreign politics so I am not a democrat or a republican.

I am looking at two separate individuals Sarah Palin and Joe Biden as people (forget the party they run for for a moment). Given the experience of each candidate and listening to a few speeches each has given I am not sure how Sarah Palin would fare in a debate vs Joe Bidden. Please watch this clip of Joe Bidden on the Iraq War resolution. This man may not be the best speaker in the world but it is impossible to deny that he has experience.

Sarah seems like a bright and wonderful person but what little we have seen of her responding to questions leaves something to be desired: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvUsdmqGYV8.

What are your thoughts?
Appologies here is the Joe Bidden clip:

The Palin clip is not working. Here it is again:

biden will have 30 years worth of talking points but he talks too much and comes off as practiced and hollow. Palin may lack his experience but she is honest and likable and just about all Americans are ready for a new way to do business.

McCain/Palin '08

Seeing Palin in the debate reminds me of old I Love Lucy show where Lucy memorizes answers to quiz but it given different questions.

palin will no doubt spout some crap off about how everything is gods plan like she always does. this will make her look stupid and biden wont have to say much to look better than her

Biden is smart enough to not underestimate her.

Palin will have her talking points down and will impress her fans with her quick and pat answers that they want to here.

It does not matter to the Republicans that our military is stretched to the breaking point as long as the candidate says we are going to kick Russia's azz.

It doesn't matter to the Republicans that there party pushed deregulation which wrecked the economy as long as their candidate promises to lower taxes.

It doesn't matter to the Republicans that the President and Vice President have no influence over Roe v Wade as long as the candidate says they are pro-life.

The Republicans will think that she did stellar, and that Biden spent too much time going into details (which they will interpret as an attempt to confuse the issues...because they won't understand what he is saying).

But the debates are simply where the Democrats will pick up the undecideds and Independents....BECAUSE...the Republican platform is based on lies.

They will not stand the scrutiny of the debates, the fact checking, and the analysis that follow.

They will be exposed. They will blame the "liberal press", but facts will still be facts, and people are getting to worried about the future to be swayed by a pretty face telling pretty lies.

It should be a very interesting and revealing debate - I only hope the questions are about the real issues and we can put the lip stick on the pigs and pit bulls behind us.

Palin doesn't have much experience. That will be a point against her. However, Biden has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth when he's speaking without a script.

I'll call it even odds.

Palin has no idea what the foreign policy and
She does not know what she is talking about.
Biden knew about it and will wimp her.

Palin will turn this B/Ser inside out. Hes been in so long he thinks hes anointed. She will clean his clock, that doesnt mean he can tell time.

Palin has a good chance. She has gotten in only a few years to the same place it took Biden 30 years to get to, the VP candidacy.

I think so this is a woman that really means what she says. If she call calls my man on his record he will loose it. He as already stated that he was not the best man/woman for the VP.

Palin did very well when the TelePrompter malfunctioned at the RNC, she sidestepped all of the traps that Charlie Gibson laid down for her.

Biden on the other hand seems to have a severe case of athletes tongue, plus he has run for president twice and the people have shown that they don't want him.

My question is does Biden have a fighting chance.

Joe Biden will win the debate. no doubt. However, the expectation for him will be much higher and unless he does THAT good... some people might think Palin is the winner.

can you see the damage Palin is causing in her political arena, from Alaska? read the Anchorage daily news and check out what concerns the Alaskan people. Palin has definitely covered up alot and it is coming to surface. Palin is nothing but trouble. Vote Bidden.

Biden is the one to watch.

Biden has a long history of misspeaking.

Experience, doesn't really matter when it comes to the debates.

Palin is a great public speaker.

Plus, who really cares,

Its the VP debate.

They will both do whatever Obama or McCain tell them to do.

Maybe. Look at history: Quayle 1988: Bush won.

I wonder if you'll have the same question regarding the people actually running for President.

Biden is just an empty suit of hot air. Always has been and now about to be a real "has been"

She's more energetic speaker, but has really shallow international experience -

She charismatic but off the leash from her handlers I think she'll bomb-

I would have loved to have seen Palin debate Hilliary- Hilliary's smarter, fiery and more experienced... she would have torn Palin to shreds-

I think Americans are intellectually lazy and prefer to deal with things in black and white terms. While I think Biden will present more logical, informed debate, I suspect the average person will relate more to Palin because she comes across as "plain folk". She reminds me of a female version of the current simpleton in the White House. She speaks without regard to facts or knowledge. Like Bush, she likes to puff herself but and sites her "wiring" as proof that she is ready for action-figure like decisiveness in the face of that dreaded 3 a.m. call. I find myself wondering if her Cheney is in this case "the First Dude". She reminds me of the insecure female who is so eager to be accepted by the "boys" club that she identifies with their most serious flaws.
