Bicycling with a baby?

I'm almost 32 wks pregnant and was hoping to start bicycling after the baby was born. I've looked on many sites but the general answer is 6-12 months. Anyone know what an appropriate age is to be able to ride a bike with a baby? I'd be using one of those weeride trailors that way I could take my 6 yr old along too.
I live in NC. And I wouldn't be placing the baby in the trailor to sit on his own. I was thinking of getting a carseat and buckling it in.
That's the main thing I was worried about was the helmet I don't want to take the baby with me until he's old enough to safely wear a helmet.

You don't want to take a baby on a bike or trailer until they are at least one year old. their necks are not strong enough to support their head let alone a helmet. Some states like NY it is illegal to have a 1 year old or less on a bike or trailer.
