i need to know a little about the things entailed with working bicycle patrol for the police force.

First off, I'm not a police officer, but I know two guys that are bicycle patrol so I'll tell you what they told me 
They always go in twos, usually on paths and that sort of thing. Wherever people who run, cycle, and work out. Sometimes parks and such (these are suburbs). They don't carry as quite as much equipment as a guy in a car of course.
Mostly the stuff that they are looking for is small like people getting directions, backyard houses, they also told me sometimes they go to spots along bicycle paths and parks that druggies hang out, they basically just be there for people around the neighborhood.
In terms of what they have to do for qualifying, they have to pass the same things as all the other police in the department, they have to do some kind of training with the bicycles (not a lot i guess) and they learn do deal more with friendly work in the neighborhood.
