Keep the chain dry as much as possible to keep it from rusting.

Check tire pressure every week for best performance.

Keep the bike clean as much as possible.

Do not let friends ride your bike, they usually dont care about what happens to someone elses bike.

When you use WD-40 KEEP IT AWAY FROM TIRES AND THE BRAKES. If you do spray the tires emediatly try to wash it off, WD-40 can cause tires to slip and brakes to not work.

Dont attemp anything you dont feel like you can do or that could cause damage to your bike.

If you are not very experienced in fixing bike take your bike to your local bike shops, they can fix it quick and do it right.

Enless your a more experienced rider keep your bike away from snow.

Dont take a street BMX bike on a mountain bike trail. Mountain bike trails are usually very bumpy.

SAFTEY

Always where a helmet when attempting stunts that are more dangerous than a 4 foot gap to jumo over.

Dont be afraid to bail if you can stop and are about to hit a wall. The bike can be repaired for less than it costs to heal a broken arm.

When you go riding through a course always be sure to have a buddy and a phone with you. incase someone gets hurt.

Dont overload your bike by putting to much weight on your pegs. Having a friend ride on your pegs can be VERY dangerous. You should NEVER have someone riding on your front pegs, you could easily loose control no matter how experienced you are in bike riding.

Try to visualize your run on a mountain bike trail before you go through. This will give you a huge advantage in races and helps keep you safe.

Dont buy used bikes. Theres usually a good reason why people sell their used bikes. If you do buy a used bike go through a quick inspection, check the brakes, tires, and how secure the handlears are.
There are many ways to get hurt from loose handlebars.

Cleaning your bike helps, clean brake blocks to avoid unnecessary tear on your rims, clean the chain and gears. Pretty much keeping everything clean helps. Make sure you store it in a safe place where in can't get scratches easily.
