Bicycle like the Gary Fisher Kaitai?

I really like the gary fisher dual sport model bike called the Kaitai, i want a hybrid bike that is fast but also can withstand stuff like a mountain bike could, and also featuring front suspension, but i dont really want to spend the amount that the Kaitai is....

Does anyone know if there are any bikes like this that are at a cheaper price?
 
no hybrid can do what a mtb can. maybe what you can do is get a 300 mtb and get an additional wheel set with slicks so you could easily switch the tires depending on what you want to do, because a mtb with slicks is just as good as a hybrid is.
