Bicycle help please. Which brand should I get?

Thank you if you've already answered some of my bicycle questions.. Now I'm wondering If the Gary Fisher Tarpon is comparable to the Trek 4300. My son mostly rides on the streets and spends very little time on trails.

If he doesn't do any mountain biking don't waste money on a mountain bike. Both of those you chose are mountain bikes.

If you have to pick between those two, then go for the GF, however, I highly suggest finding a road bike or a hybrid for him. Mountain bikes are such a pain to ride in the streets.
