Brand new to this forum as well as Satellite TV. Wife bless her soul purchased TH50PX75 plasma along with the BEV9242. Installer came Sat and hooked everything up. TV1 (new plasma) and UHF signal to TV2 (older CRT in bedroom) All seems to be working well, but having read and re-read the operating instructions for the BEV with it's single & dual mode options, all I want to know is:
1) Can I record a tv show on the pvr while I am watching a different show on the same TV (the plasma) while the wife is watching a different show on the upstairs tv and being able to change the channel?
I cannot seem to figure this out yet...again brand new to sat tv and pvr's.
Any layman instructions are really appreciated!

You have 2 tuners in the Expressvu PVR. This will allow you to either 1. watch 1 live program and record one, 2. Record two programs, but only be able to watch 1 of the 2 that are recording, or something previously recorded, 3. Watch 2 different live programs (in dual tuner mode).

Since there are only 2 Tuners in the unit, it isn't able to watch 2 different 'live' programs and record another 'live' program. The best you would be able to do is have your wife watching 'live' tv, you could record something, but then you can only either watch what you're recording or watch something previously recorded.

You're going to be kinda stuck doing what I do, which is record the timeshifted versions of shows I want to watch later (you'll often find the signal quality is better on the seattle stations, anyway).

Hopefully that helps a little bit.

Well not quite correct.

The 9242 has 3 Tuners. If you hook up an OTA feed into the 9242 you can be recording 2 shows whilst watching a live show from the OTA feed.

That does help...thank you. Still trying to figure everything out with all the options and such with dual/single, etc, etc.
So I think the best thing as you say would be keep the PVR in dual mode, record the shows we like via the time shifting (later at night) thus keeping both TV's available for viewing in the evening (hockey vs whatever).
Thanks again!
