I have been suffering with a 6.5 bulge at L5-S1, with nerve impingement for the last 5 months. Bad sciatica down my left leg, knee to ankle.
The three discs above this one, all bulge to some degree, and I have DDD and stenosis.

My question is, some days I think WOW its better, I am going to beat this.
Then the next day, BAM its back full force, the sciatica I mean.
Its been such an up and down battle.

I have been living with these problems for 20 years, but I have not had such a bad flare up in 12 years or so. No surgery.
Its so disheartening :(

Unfotunately, this is common to be better one day and then we tend to overdo and the pain comes right back sometimes even worse.

Tonight, I was changing the bed sheets and I stretched I guess a little to far and bam the entire sciatica is flared down into my toes. Who would have thought?

Good luck and I pray that you have less worse days and more better days.

123, did your sciatica stay or just come in a flash?
By the way, changing bed sheets is very arabitious!
Sometimes, I think how sad is that, I consider changing sheets on a bed arabitious?!
But then I consider.... it could be worse. Everything is relative.

Hi

I used to suffer with chronic sciatica running down my left buttock and leg.
Some days i felt good and the next just couldn't move.
It's how it is i'm afraid.

I had 3 sessions of acupunture and it has been 90% better since.

I know it doesn't work for everyone but it may be worth a try.

Best wishes

Hi there! When I initially hurt my back, I was on the floor with my munchkins and bent backwarRAB arching my back and heard something pop. Then I had immediate flashes of sciatica pain.

After 2 years of this, I had a laminectomy due to bone spurs. Then 7 months later, I had a fusion because the laminectomy caused things to become unstable. After the fusion, my sciatica has been pretty constant nerve pain. It stays in my upper right thigh skips the calf and goes into the side of my foot and toes. Yesterday when I stupidly stretched over the bed, I had shooting pains and I have had then off and on since. I am sure in a couple of days I will be back to my constant pain instead of shooting pains.

Hope this helps and I pray that your pain settles down soon. I have been living with sciatica pain since the Fall of 2004.
