Betta fish... what else?

hypothetically, if I had a ten gallon, cycled tank with one betta, what other fish/tankmates could go with him and how many?

**I know you can't put other bettas.
**I also know that bettas can be put with other fish, so don't say "they will kill any fish you put in there"

Thanks for the help, I'd like to have as many fish as I can in it so couple options (like 3 of these and 2 of these and...) and lists of what I could put in it would be really great. I have a white sandbed in the tank with live plants. If possible, I'd like to get something that will eat the fish poop and debris at the bottom of the tank- I had ghost shrimp that did an okay job but other ideas would be great too. My betta is actually a little wimpy and doesn't flare much at my other betta or his reflection. Not too much, anyway. So I think he will be okay with other fish. Thanks for the input!

1. I would suggest a school of small fish such as harlequin rasboras. I keep six rasboras with my male betta in a ten gallon tank along with 4 ghost shrimp and a couple snails.

2. No fish will eat crap. There are fish that will eat algae or the food that settles on the bottom, but not the waste. You should be using a gravel siphon to vacuum the substrate weekly for that.
