Betta Fish tank transition?

I just got my new betta fish about two days ago and I got a 1/2 gallon tank with him. But today my friend gave me a 5 gallon tank. My question is would it shock my fish if i moved him to the 5 gallon tank?
 
you have to leave the water out for a couple days before you make the transition, or you can fill the 5 gallon with tap water and buy the stuff to make it suitable for your fish. you also have to put the 1/2 gallon it currently is in, into the 5 gallon tank. and your fish will be amazing;)
 
Oh cool! Betta fish are awesome. I have one and they live for a while!! Actually, betta fish prefer smaller and more compact tanks. The one that you have now, the 1/2 gallon one, is perfect, maybe even a little smaller. The 5 gallon one is way to big, he would get spaced out and freaked out. :)
 
the half gallon tank should b fine, i asked a question today about my beta for more info on them, u can go to my questions to see wat they said, i have a 1 gallon and hes happy little guy
 
The move would benefit him more than anything. Remember that he also should have a gentle filter and an aquarium heater.

~Allowing the five gallon to sit for a couple of days while the betta stays in the 1/2 gallon is pointless. A five gallon has more room for waste dilution than does a 1/2 gallon. Just set up the five gallon, condition it, and add him in.

-Skip- The title of your question was "My beta fish always looks dead?!?", not "My betta fish is a happy little guy". Why should your advice be followed?
 
He will be fine, just add some stress coat in there, and it'll help him to be less stressed out. And water conditioner and make sure to transition him correctly obviously. Stress coat is like 5 dollars at Walmart, and you'll use it often if you have fish.
 
no it wouldnt i had the same thing happen to me i got a 6 gallon tank but nothing happed to my beta
 
Let the water in the 5 gallon tank sit for a day or two.

Remove half the water from the 1/2 gallon tank and incorporate it into the 5 gallon tank.

Carefully place the fish into the new tank.

Good luck, I have a betta in a one gallon tank and he does very well!

Don't over feed.
