My little brother is 6 and decided he wanted a betta fish today. We own a small, and i mean a half gallon at the most, "tank". I fought for him not to get it because I knew that would be cruel treatment for the fish. My mother thought I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about because she "always sees them in little jars in pet stores". She gave in and said he could have one. So I said that I would pay for the bigger tank since I do not want to see the fish suffer. I live near Petland Discounts and Petco. Where can I find a nice tank (2.5-5 gallons) reasonably priced? I know of 10 gallon tanks with heaters and filter for $35 so something lower than that woud be nice. I have water conditioner for my African Dwarf Frogs so that is not an issue. Also, is a betta the best option? Would something else be better?

This is totally off topic but how much money would it cost to make my tank have live plants and sand (its 10 gallons). I would like lots of live plants, bamboo, sand, and a light that will keep them alive.
