I purchased an outdoor bench from Big Lots recently with the plan of painting the flowers that are on it. However after painting a portion of it I realized that the paint is not sticking. I am wondering if there is an easy way to prep the surface to paint it? I have considered sanding the bench but that is scary since the bench has so much detail to it. I had an idea of using some kind of primer to prime the bench so that I can paint it but so far no one has told me if this would work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
