Best VOIP software

I use Gizmo Project....its not free but almost there...0.02 cents per minute (from India to USA) !!!! (It was 0.01 cents a few weeks ago so it might still go up but even then its cheaper to call to US for me than to call my parents within India. Within India VoIP is still banned)

I've been using Voipcheap...great stuff
but I gotta give the gizmo a shot... got a download link ? don't post here...PM me... ..thanks ..

Hi bugmeman,

Being on the fring team means I am not even pretending to be objective. Still, I believe many will rank fring as one of the best mVoIP services out there ?and personally I am pretty confident it's the best :-)

About VoIP call being truly free: Obviously I look separately at VoIP to VoIP call versus VoIP to PSTN/GSM calls. When it comes to mVoIP to mVoIP/VoIP calls, than if I am in a public WiFi hot spot (with a WiFi enabled handset?.lol) your VoIP calls are 100% free (unless you consider the cup of coffee cost in your local coffee-shop a "communication cost item"?). Also if your data plan covers you, VoIP calls are free within this plan (ex H3G in the UK for ?5 a month flat). Otherwise you pay data rates according to your mobile operator package.

When it comes to mVoIP to PSTN/ GSM calls, than there is a 'termination' fee (which refer to the fact that 'someone' is transferring the call from VoIP to regular phone system). One very known and used service is SkypeOut. Thus, as I have a SkypeOut account I use fring to make very cheap (but not 100% free) calls to my buddies in London over BT lines. As you probably know, as fring is about to support personal SIP as well, you will be able to set up a personal SIP account (with providers like Gizmo Project, FWD, VoIP stunt, etc.) and instruct fring to use the SIP account to make mVoIP to regular lines.
