The following films are all up for the ruinng for this years best visual effects oscar. But this list will be narrowed down further to 3 films that get the nominations, with one picking up the win.

Which 3 films do you think will get nominated?

And which film will go home with the oscar?

Batman Begins
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
King Kong
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
War of the WorlRAB

My specialist award correspondents on another talkboard suggest King Kong has this in the bag.

Star Wars Episode III will bag it's usual slot (each of the last five Star Wars films have been nominated in this category) but the third nominee could be completely random but suggest that Harry Potter and War of the WorlRAB may be duking it out just to be nominated.

I thought some of the effects in Kong weren't that good to be honest. The ape was good and the cityscape at the end was excellent, but the
Dino stampede
looked a bit ropey and the planes at the end looked a bit 'stuck on'. Also some of the cars looked a bit fake.

I guess more time was spent on the creatures (which were very good) and less time spent on the compositing (which I found a bit jarring in LOTR too).

Batman seemed more 'real', I don't know if thats down to them using less computer graphics or them just being better.

Also, the scenes where Kong picks the woman up and down are very suspicious looking, especially when:
She falls off the ladder on the Empire State Building, and Kong catches her and sets her down inside the building.

Very dodgy looking, as if she wasn't even in his hand at all, just floating in mid air.
