Best touring muffler????

I have been told that the Screamin' Eagle mufflers are NOT stage 1, they are simply a bit louder but do little as far as free flow. Matter of fact, the maps for stock and SE's are the same.

I just got my bike back today and instead of having the stock mufflers put on I got a set of Vance and Hines Ovals (not the monster ovals) and I think they sound great. Deep tone, not tinny. Loud enough to sound good and be heard but you can still hear the radio at freeway speed.

D&D Fatcat. No questions asked there as I've done a ton of reading before having bought them. If you don't like the two into one, add the ghost pipe. Get the quiet baffle which has plenty of bark when you twist the wrist.

When I decided to go with a bike with radio, I wanted to make sure I could hear it over the exhaust. So I went with the SE touring mufflers. Also saved myself money, no high flo air cleaner kit needed or download. It has a nice deep tone without drowning out the radio.

Well one of the differences is that, unlike the stock exhaust, both the left and right sides are the same. In a stock exhaust the left side is much more restrictive, which is why you should not use stock pipes with a true dual system. I was under the impression that the maps were the same no matter what slip ons you used until you opened up the intake side as well?

That being said I believe that it is true that the SEs flow better then stock, but not as much as some of the louder pipes. That would make sense to me.

Might as well ask what's the best cigar, scotch, or do you like brunettes, blonds, etc ...

Pipes are preference related. You'll get a seperate response from almost every member on this forum.

I posted this in the "Product review" section.
Keeps the stock look, and keeps money in your pocket.

After I found a set of pipes on this forum from another member, They were just too loud for my taste. I sold them and sent my stock pipes to tkepple03, who has many posts on e-bay, and he modified them to my type of riding!
He has various stages of baffle mods to fit any taste and the cost is very reasonable!
I got them back this afternoon and went for a short ride and am very happy with the result over the stock sound. I went with stage 2.5. There is a sound clip on his e-bay page of stage 3.
Since these are my original pipes, they still have the factory stamp, so the new regulations against aftermarket pipes that are starting to crop up, maybe won't be such a problem if I get stopped for another reason.
I am not getting any compensation for this endorsement, and I just wanted to pass this along for the other budget minded members!
