Best Touch Screen Phone On Verizon, or Sprint That Doesn't Require Data Plan?

In a perfect world, I would just get an iPhone or Droid and be done with it. However, given my work and life schedule, I simply can't justify the cost of a data plan since it simply wouldn't get used nearly enough.

That said, I would like a nice phone with some features, including a touch screen. It also needs to work well as a phone. I'm om mpnth to month with Verizon, so I have all my options open. I do not get a decent signal from AT&T at my home though, so that leaves Verizon and Sprint.

What phone options are best given what I want? Thanks for any help with this.

No personal experience beyond the Droid, but reading the user reviews on Verizon website or CNET would help you. LG Cosmos Touch and Pantech Crux are highest rated on Verizon website.

I have had the LG enV Touch for almost 2 years now and it has been a great phone. I was disappointed that they have had so few apps for it, but it still runs the Vsong ID app which I always loved, and finally got a bubble level app. It has worked very well and I have had zero problems with it, apart from an annoying flaw where if I have it charging via USB and I answer a call, it often resets the phone (dropping the call, of course). It has a microSD slot which I believe maxes at 8GB but works well with the 4GB card I have been using. It is touch screen, and I sometimes use the virtual keypad with the haptic feedback, but I usually open the flip and use the QWERTY keyboard, which had real metal keys. It also sounds pretty good with the somewhat stereo speakers (one to either side of the internal display). Hope that helps!
