Best texting phone/texting plan for Verizon Wireless?

I have a 2 yr contract and am looking for a texting phone & texting plan. I have a plan with my family but im going to pay for the new phone and texting plan since we dont have texting. I just want to pay for texting for my phone & im thinking of getting the ENV2. Any tips? Also, can i purchase the new phone at a verizon store by myself? Im not 18 yet im only 17? and how much will it cost me? thanks so much :]
