I'm using a Nikon F2 (pretty ancient) and I'm planning on photographing an event at night. With color/black and white film, what would you recommend as the best film to use? Any tips on pushing film?
Metor shower. The moon. Fireworks. Concert. Block party. Pep rallly. Football game.
You didn't narrow down the field much. Each event takes a different technique. If it is not a one time event, then take a light meter, camera, and just take readings to see what settings you need so you are prepared. These setting will dictate wither or not you need to push the film and how much.
