I know this is a broad question and probably everyone has a different response to medications, but can anyone recommend the best allergy med for them ... preferably between Allegra and Xyzol? I'm looking for the one with the LEAST sedative effect. That's very important to me.

Any responses would be very helpful, thanks.

Allegra never worked for me - nor Claritin. I've not taken Zyxol. I take Zyrtec - which, of course - is OTC now.

I also have not taken Zyxol, but I've taken Allegra, Claritin, Clarinex and Zyrtec. None of them made me drowsy. Because I can get the generics cheaply, I rotate Claritin and Zyrtec. I seem to get immune after a few months and need to change it up. For me, they seem to all work equally. I also take Singulair, originally prescribed for my asthma. It's commonly being used for allergies now. When I have run out of Singulair and have to wait a week or so for a refill, my asthma definitely gets worse, but not my allergies, so I don't think it affects my allergies one way or another.

HanRAB down (for me at least) Zyzol.
I've tried everything and zyzol the only rx that really does the trick for nasal allergies. Even beat the rx sprays I was taking. Zyrtec D also works immediately, but doesn't last and has a bad aftermath on my sinuses after use.

It really is an individual thing. I haven't tried Zyzol yet. Allergra worked for me for many years. The overall best one for me though was Astelin.

I also found success with corabinations of medications. Astelin, Allergra and Flonase.

Sorry to ask again, but I tried Xyzol this past month, and no difference. I don't know what else to try. My main symptom right now is a post nasal drip/mucus type of issue. I'd like prescription because OTC tend to make me drowsy and frankly don't work as well. Any other suggestions as far as rx anti histamine pills or any nasal sprays go? My docs seem pretty clueless and just brush it off, saying to try Zyrtec or whatever, which I've already tried 100 times. Thanks again.

Well, there really aren't any others as most are OTC these days. Have you tried a spray? Or a decongestant like Sudafed? Or perhaps even a neti pot?

On an entirely different track, are you sure it's sinus and not acid reflux or gerd?
