Greenteeth is right about the pricing. The only way to get good pricing through the third party stores in NYC is to sign up for a new contract - you'll get a large discount that way but you will have to get a local NYC phone number with that plan. If you're just going to buy an unlocked phone, the prices are not going to be any better than the Nokia store. For example, in Chinatown the going price for the new unlocked N73 is $430 - $450. You can save paying tax if you pay in cash but you will get an Asia Pacific (APAC) model most likely and you won't have any warranty. The price of N73 in the NY store is $429.99 plush tax but you get 1 year of US warranty that Nokia will actually honor. However, Nokia store is currently not selling the E65. I don't know if you can find it in Chinatown though, but again, the prices without signing up for contract are not going to be any better than the online retailers. You'll probably better off buying it from Importgsm as you'll at least get a year of warranty from them.
