Best phone to hack/mod?

Im looking to get a new phone because mine broke. I've been hearing that you can get cables or use bluetooth to change all sorts of things on your phone. Is there a particular phone that is best for hacking/modding? Thanks.
 
I'm not sure how easy it is to hack other phones, but from my experience, there are TONS of hacks for motorola phones, especially the V3 and the V3i.
 
Oh i was wondering too. So if there are a lot of hacks for the V3 does that mean phones that use the same UI like the PEBL are just as hackable or is it actually the phone it self? Cause im really looking into the PEBL as serious choise.
 
Cool i think im going to get one! Its just i cant find anyone selling one or having one on display so i can just hold it in real life to make sure the form factor is nice. Ebay has some killer deals right now too. Gotta make up my mind....
 
all the motos are based on the same platform (remember the v300,400,500,600?) all the same things except different branding and bt on the 600. all of the motos have the same exact UI and most hacks are interchangeable (sans flashing/flexing). id love another motorola (was going to get a v3i but now that cingular is going to carry it, i don't want it anymore)
