I've never had a cell phone b4 and am struggling to find a plan/phone that meet my needs for $25/mo or less. Heres my expected monthly usage:

200-400 texts sent/received
150-200 voice minutes
will only use the phone on 50% of days

If anyone knows of a plan that would give me this for a good price, let me know! It does not matter if its prepay or pay as you go. Need the phone itself too, dont care about any fancy features other than call/text and dont care about appearance either.

thx :help:

From illinois (south chicago burbs)

25/mo is for the plan only. hoping to spend 50 or less on the phone itself

PagePlus is a good choice, but your plan suggestion comes out to $36/mo (You cannot span the 2000SMS/mo option over more than that given month).

Instead I'd suggest the 1200/1200 PagePlus plan, which is 1200 voice minutes and 1200 text and 50MB data for $30/mo. It is possible to get a modest discount on that to bring it down a little. I think that is as close to $25/mo for at least 300mins and 300SMS that you can get right now.

You could also save a couple of dollars by doing a PP $50 for 700 mins plus the $11 text option. Then for 3 months it would be $50+33 = $83 or $27/mo, less if the 700mins could be stretched to 4 months.

There are rumors that PagePlus might introduce a 500/500 plan for $20/mo, which would be a better match for you, but it isn't available now...

yeah, if he can keep it strictly under 150min/mo, which he suggests is not the case... the $50 card would probably be better for him, but anyways, same general idea...

There is also Straight Talk which you can get at your local Walmart... it's 30 a month for 1000 minutes, 1000 text/mms and 30mb data. They have a few phones under 50 bucks if you don't want anything fancy. And unlike Page Plus you do not have to connect your bank account to them if you don't want... just buy a card and refill every month.

Page Plus does give you the option of using almost any Verizon phone you want, and you can roam with them while Straight Talk has no roaming. Straight Talk also runs on Verizon but you have to use one of their phones. HTH
