Best phone from each OS family for these specs?

What do you think is the best phone for each of the OS families (Windows Mobile 5/6, Symbian, other) given these absolute requirements (and these are the ONLY absolute requirements):

- 2.8" 320x240 display or larger
- excellent web browsing (including zooming and scrolling)
- decent email support (web based email - Yahoo, etc)
- 4GB minimum
- above average audio/video interface and playback quality
- QWERTY keyboard (hard keys or touchscreen but if touchscreen no stylus required)
- Wi-Fi
- decent battery life (ie. average or better)
- speakerphone

Well what would you say are your top three for WM5/6? All other things being equal, give the most weight to battery life and ease of web browsing.

If you were to look at touchscreen+stylus only, theres P3300, ETEN X500, ASUS 535?
Touchscreen+keyboard: HTC TyTN, ETEN M700, I-mate Jas Jar was very popular in its times.
Keyboard only: You have Moto Q, Blackjack, Asus P525 is apparently good to use as well.

Once again, this is off top of my head.

It looks like you just described the iPhone perfectly!!!

As much as some as some people are against this phone, it is a great phone and it meets every single one of your specs.

3.5" touch screen with virtual keyboard + no stylus required
EXCELLENT, best in class web browsing, scrolling + zooming,
Average email support for Imap + pop3
4gb or 8gb models
Best music phone EVER! mainly because it has an ipod built in, not just any ipod, the best ipod ever built
Wi-Fi
Speakerphone
Battery life is EXCELLENT in some, and average in other.

The price tag is hefty though, but not much more then alot of other smartphones. Its well worth the price, I will tell you that.

That's exactly what I'm leaning towards. At first I was pretty turned off by the things Apple DIDN'T do, but the more I've thought about it I really don't need those things. What I DO need is what's in my list at the beginning of this thread and the iPhone seems to be #1. When I look at something like the Nokia N95, great as it is, and the price, a $600 iPhone doesn't seem all that pricey. And believe me, I've probably spent 20 hours researching phones this week. ALL of them have problems in some way or another. That's why I decided to boil down my list to MUST HAVES in order to help me decide.

I don't care for Windows Mobile at all. It looks so 90s. I've used Pocket PCs in the past and looking at these Windows Mobile phones gives me the creeps. I could sit on the fence for a few more months and wait for all the new stuff coming out but I could still end up finding faults with those phones too.

Its quite simple.
You want to modd your fone you get WM5/6. PLENTY I mean Inifinite 3rd party apps available.
You want stability, and simplicity = Iphone.
You cant simplify it further.
You would a bit of both: Symbian S60 based phones.
Blackberry is not so easily modded, so I'd leave it out unless your company supports it, or you need BB email for that matter.

Seems to me your looking for simplicity, so I'd recommed Iphone as well. As much as I myself would never get it due to lack of features (Yes, doesnt meet my needs), I'd recommend it because its friggin easy to use with a good browser and cool UI and 'best Ipod ever'.

Carrier? Carrier? Carrier?

Pick your carrier before you pick a phone! Even the best, coolest, cheapest, etc. is no good if you don't have service when and where you need it!

Finally someone who researches! I have seen so many people put the iPhone down because of its price, or its few problems. Do those people not realize that to get a phone as powerful and feature packed as the iPhone you would have to put an unlocked phone - such as the N95, which is more then the iPhone? People have to realize that either way there are going to be some problems with every phone.

I looked through everything i needed to before I invested $600 on an iPhone and ultimatly decided the Windows Mobile was not the way for me to go, and no symbian phone (besides the N95), or blackberry would be able to do everything I was looking for. In the end, despite its lack of a few features, I chose it. It may be missing a few things like no customizable ringtones, no IM, etc. at the moment, but they will be added with the first software update for this phone. Apple is not dumb, they will give their customers what they want.

Let us know what you end up doing.

I believe Cowboy was the one in the Apple forum months ago spouting loads of crap about how it will be the best phone ever, how everything Apple is perfect and blah blah blah. He was banned and now he's back, still believing the same things, but holding his tongue moreso. Now he starts threads acting like he's interested in some other phone, and then starts attacking the phones others recommend. Now that he has an iPhone he's back on the wagon that once got him banned.

Just a theory I'm working on.

Agree on those

Symbian: E90 and N95 both for a different target groups. E90 is more for those that realy need all the features and by that can take the size.
WM: Not much into them, but HTC TyTN correct me if I'm wrong
UIQ: Must be P1.

Agreed on the UIQ and Symbian, but Symbian's S60 on anyphone is good. But for WM, it comes down to personal preference. There's way too many to pick from.
