Best phone for grandma?

Attention phone gurus.

I know most of us are caught up with the latest and greatest of phones.

However, I need to find something for grandma.
Her requirements are much different than ours.
For one, she's hard of hearing. Always complains that she can't hear the person on the other line.
So I need a phone that has loud volume.
Also, it has to be easy to use with big buttons and speed dial.
She would only need to call 5 people at most.

Lastly, it must be GSM and work on 7-11 Speakout Wireless pre-paid in Canada.

Please PM me if you have suggestion. Peace out!

probably a motorola would work? the original razr or maybe a motofone f3? Im not sure how they are in voice quality maybe someone else who has them can input their thoughts, though i know the razr can be modded for louder volume

I think flip is the way to go because she wouldn't know how to do the key lock.
The RAZR looks to hard to handle for her. It being so thin and all.
Are certain manufacturers known for louder volumes than others?

nokias I never had a problem with the volume, but the small screen might be a problem especially on their candy bars, their flip phones might be decent, but i never had experiences with them. There also might be other versions of the razr design, slightly thicker, more narrow, not sure on the model names, but i remember tmobile USA having a few versions.

One thing about GSM, does your grandmother use a hearing aid?

GSM audio interference can have a crippling effect on hearing aids. You might want to look for a phone that has been rated/certified as hearing aid friendly in such a case. Or alternately you could get a phone that has Rogers 3G frequencies, so that it can do voice over UMTS instead of EDGE (I'm not sure if SpeakOut allows this mind you, but it's a factor to consider). In UMTS mode there is no such audio interference. There is also usually no interference with CDMA phones, or with carriers that operate in 3G-only mode (Bell, Telus HSPA network; Wind while in a home zone).

If she does have a hearing aid and if you can't get 3G voice service in your local area with SpeakOut, then I would strongly urge you to reconsider the choice of provider.
