Best phone available for ~$300 or less?

Hey guys, I've dropped my E398 one too many times and it's time to replace it. I'm looking for another phone and don't want to spend much more than $300. Only criteria is that it must be able to play mp3 ringtones. I'd also prefer a black phone but that's not a must.

I was first thinking about getting a black RAZR but everyone and their mother has a RAZR. I'd prefer something not so common and with EDGE (although not a must). So I'm kinda thinking about getting a Motorola L7 but I'm not sure how realiable those are and if there are any software issues with it (besides my E398, I haven't had good experiences with Motorola). The L7 is also a little more expensive than I planned on spending.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

Oh whoops.. forgot a couple things: it MUST have a good speaker phone and be GSM. I don't really care if it's a candy bar style or clamshell but I don't care for sliders too much (although I'd be willing to give one a try if it was really good). Thanks again for any help

In my opninion, the best phone under 300 bucks is by far the Audiovox 5600.

This phone is $250 with out contract and it includes:

1. Bluetooth
2. Email and Web access - easy, easy synch up with outlook.
3. Windows Mobile 2003/ Media Player 10 - can be used as mp3 player
4. Mini SD memory Expansion
5. Camera W/ Video capabilities
6. Bright colorful screen
7. Small compact package.

I second the vote for a Nokia 6230. Small, Sleek, EDGE, MP3 Ringtones.... Sounds like it would be a great phone for you And you should be able to grab one for around $200 USD

Or if you want something with more of a "WoW" factor on it, you could try a Sony Ericsson S710. Awesome Screen, Great Camera, MP3 ringtones support.... And EDGE aswell Im pretty sure... Either way, another good phone for under $300 USD.

Personally, I'd go to www.gsmarena.com and check up on some of the older stuff from the manufacturers, and then make a decision. Let us know what you end up going with
