Most people would no doubt say Sun Tzu, which is why I said Western World.


I would create this list, as the best. (Incomplete) I will list my favorite at the end of the question.

Caesar
Marcus Licinius Crassus
Hannibal Barca
Hasdrubal Barca
Alexander the Great (and generals)
Phyrrus of Epirus
Themistocles
Lysander

and then some.



Western World = Mediterranean World
BCE= ancient world.

Before the Common Era. > 0CE
And it doesn't have to be from this list.
 
Of your list, only Alexander. Then Napoleon, R.E. Lee and MacArthur.

Patton could have been, except both Eisenhower and Hitler kept stopping him.
