For years...YEARS I was trying to figure out why Pikachu was running under some random girl's skirt in the first opening. Ever since the very first episode, I was wondering what that was about. And now I'm like "Oooooh, it's part of the actual lyrics!" That has never made sense to me in like forever. Now it's all clear......so why would he want to look for Pokemon under a girl's skirt ?

I actually have three favorites but my absolute one is the Pokemon Symphonic Melody. Why? It's a freaking symphonic piece....to Pokemon! And it actually works and sounRAB amazing! Even though it's an amalgamation of some of the previous OP's and songs that just makes it even better. I was literally blown away by the last lyrics. Felt like I was at a concert.

My second favorite was Spurt because of the beginning when we see all of Ash's Pokemon standing there awesomely. It has a nice rhythm to it too. I also love how all of Ash's ditched Pokemon are trying to kill him (Lapras' Surf, Butterfree just flying along while he's falling). And Rica Matsumo is awesome. [strike]There is no way a Sceptile's Leaf Blade could work that well on an Aerodactyl. And how did he jump that high anyway?[/strike]

Third favorite's gotta be Mezase! Pokemon Master just for the fact that it just sounRAB and looks nostalgic. It gives me that 90's feel too. Those good ol' 151 Pokemon days. But seriously, the music sounRAB very nice.

Honestly though, every single one of them is good in their own way. (Though, Together just kind of kills it at the end with the "GOOD GOOD SMILE" Was that neccessary?).

Wow, Ash has a nice singing voice. And what is Paul doing smiling in the last opening he's supposed to be a jerk!

Hmm... I had to mull it over a bit, and just watched all the openings over again, and my final choice - Advance Adventure.

Not only is it really catchy, which is is - it feels more like an anime opening than a lot of the songs; good or bad, that's your call - but it FEELS most like a Pokemon opening. It's fast paced and energetic, a fun singer, and a general feeling of - yeah, Pokemon, let's go on an adventure. But at the same time it has a very calm mood to it. Like, this isn't an adventure to save the world or anything, it's just to explore, to have fun, to see the world.

That's what Pokemon is about, really. At least, anime-wise. It's something you just sit back and relax to.

...oh, and by the way, thanks for making me go through all that. Now I'm TOTALLY hyped up for Pokemon and SoulSilver won't be out for MONTHS. Gah. Urge to fanfic... rising...

I find it ironic that Johto had some of the best openings, yet the saga itself was pretty lackluster overall.

Its almost like false advertising. Those openings make you think that the Johto saga was this great thing...and then you actually watch the episodes and remeraber "Johto filler syndrome" and how bad the Pokemon on the group were and everything else that was full of fail.

Almost brings back memories.

Spurt! easily. I love the intro visuals, it has slightly more of an edge and sense of urgency than all the other openings, and whoever was playing the guitar was ripping that hell out of that thing in the middle portion.

Oh yeah. Whoever's throwing that guitar around in the middle portion totally knew their stuff at that part.

(Again, I ask how the heck is Sceptile doing that? )

Completely agree. I wouldn't say Johto had my "favorites" but they were still very good songs....and then of course, you remeraber all that filler that took up that season. It's like Naruto and it's filler openings (7-9) being really good....but they're filler openings.

“Ready, Go!” is my favorite opening. I don't like the video as much as I like the song though but the song is pretty catchy.

“Battle Frontier” is my second favorite opening. I like the video and the song a lot. Actually, my favorite part of the song is when Takaya sings "Are you okay?" part.

“Together” is my third favorite but that's only because I don't like the other opening songs.
