Best iPhone 3G iOS4 jailbreak

Hi,

Now there are lot of JB tools for OS4 for 3G.
Which is the best, which worked for most of the users who have upgraded their 3G to OS4.

I have tried sn0wbreeze v1.7 for my 3G, it doest works
Also tried redsn0w, it hangs at "Downloading Jailbreak Data"

So very confused on which tool to use to upgrade my iPhone 3G to iOS4 with Hactivated+Jailbroken+Multitasking enabled.

Now my iPhone is bricked after redsn0w, so please guide me in the irte direction.

spirit is the best but u have to activate it first with onesim or usr original sim is u have it

Mentions its just for jailbreaking, not for Hactivating, so i cant use my sim, it will be jailbroken but locked.
 
Beta 5 of Redsn0w can hacktivate your iphone , it was already mentioned by Dev-Team
 
Update #1: redsn0w beta has been updated to hacktivate iOS 4.0 for iPhone3G (in addition to jailbreaking the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G). The download links for redsn0w are:

So Now what are my steps to get OS4 on 3G iPhone?

Download iOS4 from redmondpie
upgrade iPhone firmware on the device
JB the iOS4 with redsn0w.0.9.5b5-5 while connecting the device to PC

Are these the correct steps
 
do i need to upgrade to 3.1.3 before moving to os 4, as currently i have 3.1.2 blackrain JB
