Best free programs similar to Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop?

Hello I recently have become very interested in GraphicDesign.
I used the 30 day trials for both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. the trials are up and I don't have money to purchase these.

So, what are similar programs to Adobe illustrator that I can download for free?
And what are programs similar to photoshop?
