Best "free" phone or close

Hi, I'm new to the boards.

Whats the best "free" phone that att is offering right now? My wife and I are switching to att. She wants a razr, I dont. I'm looking at the nokia 6126. It seems to have everything I want minus a flash on the camera. I dont care about music and rarely use my phone. All calls are like a minute or two long. Im currently using a verizon nokia 6215i, with extended battery and it lasts me for about 12 days, depending on where I let it sit....(verizons reception). I know for sure that att has a closer tower where I'm at, and I wont get the stupid "searching system" crap that I have had with verizon. So what is the best "free phone"?
 
well, it depends on the user. I might consider something good but you might not. The 6126 is definetively a great phone as it is a nokia. So you are going to get a quality phone, its got many media applications, avg. EDGE speed, its a quad band, and it lasts about 12 days on stand by. For a free phone its got potential. If it was me i would take a look at the Samsung A437. But you would pay like 30 bucks for it. ALthough its a mail in rebate so in the end it would be free.

The Razr is nice but its got many flaws. When i first got mine it had too many defects, so i ended up getting a different phone. I am sure they are much better now. But like i said its about your preferences. You should go for the Nokia, its great and above all its free.
 
I recently got a 6126 some good points but mostly some bad.
Screen resolution is out of this world.
Screen smudges so bad you cant see it in daylight.
The ringer will ring low for two rings then increase in volumn (To me this is extreamly annoying)
The screen darkens after about 20 seconds to make it even harder to see in daylight and when its smudged up (Don't know if that can be changed, haven't found a way yet).
When the outer screen goes into power saver mode the screen is dark grey with extreamly small, thin numbers showing the time, the analog clock isn't even on option on the outer screen.
I've had to reprogram the speed dial numbers several times.
The headsets aren't a pin type they are these bulky clip type that snap into the top where the data cable goes. they are easily knocked off.
the camera button and on off button are situated on the right side. I'm continually turning the phone off while talking with someone and almost every time I flip the phone open the camera is in standby mode (which is another button to push before you can use the phone.
Speaking of the phone the pictures are crappy and grainey. It has a great zoom feature, but it's hard to take a clear picture.
The Nokia suite used to connect the phone to your PC is junk. Nothing works on it. AT&T support is non-existant.
To download songs into the phone is about the most obtrusive and unfriendly system that I've ever encountered. Then the sound quality isn't that great on playback.
According to AT&T the Motorola S9 stereo headsets are compatable with the phone. Also the AT&T salesman said they were too. They were out of stock, so I bought a headset at another store. The only thing that works is music in the left ear and the phone headset and mic. the "Stereo" parts doesn't. After further researching I found out that the 6126 doesn't support the A2DP profile (this can be chalked up to my lack of research, but if their website says something works on that phone it should). Told AT&T about it, was told they would look into it and get back to me. Still over 2 months later I've heard nada from them.
The reception on it is terrible. Others with diffret AT&T supported phones get much better reception than I do standing right next to me.
If it was up to me I wouldn't use this phone for a paperweight, but unfortunatly, it's company supplied, so I'm stuck with it.
ON a rating of 1 to 10, I'll give it a 2 just for that beautiful inner display screens vivid colors.
