Best Format for Media External Hardrive?

I have a 1TB External Hd that i use for all of my media. Movies, pictures, music, etc. I run them all directly from the HD into media center and media browser. It is formatted as NTFS right now as most of my movies are high def and exceed the 4gb maximum for fat 32. My only problem is that I take my HD with me and would like to be able to access my movies on my ps3 and my girlfriends xbox 360 but they can't read NTFS. I have read that HFS+ is readable on the ps3 and 360 however I will lose the ability to run my movies directly on my pc into media center.

Is there another way to format the drive so I could use my media on everything? I know it is asking for a lot.

Thanks

Paul
I have thought about the partitioning idea but i still wouldnt be able to transfer over the hd movies because they are to large.

Imaging all of my movies would take forever. I have over 300 in total. Not all are hd
I also can't extend to the xbox because the only computer there is a macbook.
