Best First Car Choice 2001 Lexus IS 300 or E36 M3?

I would like to know someone elses take on which one would make the best first car

2001 Lexus IS300
E36 BMW M3

Im interested in the M3 becuase of the overall look and power of the car. However im contemplating wither or not the IS 300 will be a better choice becuase of the reliability.
 
IS300 is more reliable and has a smoother ride and comes with more features.

But the M3 is quicker to 60mph by 2.5 seconds.
